Orlando City B will look to make a statement in the USL this Saturday as they open against Wilmington Hammerheads FC. After a nine-week preseason, OCB is ready to get their minutes.
āThe guys are chomping at the bit and really looking forward to the weekend,ā noted OCB Head Coach Anthony Pulis. āWeāve been in a fortunate position where weāve had a long preseason so weāve been able to go through the different aspects of how we want to play in possession, out possession, the transitions. So weāve just basically been going over the different aspects.ā
In just their short time together OCB had an impressive preseason. With that strong preseason behind them, OCB is rolling into the regular season with an air of confidence as they look to become a winning team.
āWeāre very confident. I think the performance through preseason have been very good. Weāve obviously had some really positive aspects. Still we have aspects to work on but I think thatās natural with a new teamā¦ on the whole, the guyās attitudes, their approach to training, the intensity to training has been absolutely first class,ā Coach Pulis beamed about his young team.
Orlando City B boasts both young, fresh players as well as players who have seen time in the MLS. The mixed company should be a strong point for OCB as they look to provide value minutes to future Lions players. Although an affiliate team to the Lions, Coach Pulis makes it clear that OCB is here to win.
āTo try and get these players up to the MLS group they have to understand itās about winning. Yes, itās about developing players and yes, I want every player on my roster to better at the end of the season than they are now, but at the end of the day weāre in professional sports and itās about winning. Iām a great believer part of development is teaching these players how to winā
