Orlando City will head into Foxborough, Massachusetts this weekend looking to gain three points against the New England Revolution and advance in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
The team has had a strong week of practice, and are brimming with confidence going into the matchup against the Revolution. When asked about the team’s mood going into this weekend’s matchup, Lions center back Aurélien Collin was quick to deliver, “It’s great. I think last week was a great performance from everybody. We all showed a lot of will and commitment and we fought to the end. This week we just need to not concede any goals and score a little bit more.”
The Lions currently sit in 6th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They have a one point advantage over 7th place Montreal, and 8th place NYCFC. Coach Adrian Heath voiced his confidence and understanding that getting three points in New England could prove to be hugely beneficial in the playoff race. “It’s going to be tough this weekend,” said Heath. “But as I have said before, we are at that point in the season where we have to buckle down, actions speak louder than words, and we are going to try to get a result. Every game between now and in the season will be crucial.”
Speaking with OrlandocitySC.com, Lions right back Tyler Turner stated that obtaining all three points are the goal going into the weekend. “Confidence in the team is very high right now,” said the young back. “We know what we need to do. We need to go out and get three points. We have been training hard the whole week, and going at it pretty hard. I think come Saturday we are going to be ready and prepared and go after it.”
The team will also rely on its cadre of experienced versatile players this weekend, such as midfielders Eric Avila and Lewis Neal, and recent acquisition Corey Ashe. These journeymen have shown they can slip into various roles to benefit the team.
The Lions will face the Revolution on Saturday night at 7:30pm ET.
