Cyle Larin and Canada Prepare To Face Jamaica In Gold Cup Quarterfinals

Larin Gold Cup

We already know that the United States will make the trip to Semi-Finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Tonight, we will see if Canada will join them there when they take on Jamaica in the Quarterfinals.

Canada has had a good Gold Cup tournament so far, going undefeated in the Group Stage. Their first match was a 4-2 victory over French Guiana, which included two goals from 16-year-old striker Alphonso Davies. For the Quarterfinals, Cyle Larin will be joining the squad and looking to make an impact in a tournament that means a lot to his country.

But Jamaica also remained undefeated in the Group Stage at the Gold Cup. Two of their three goals came from Portland Timbers striker Darren Mattocks. They finished the group stage with the same record as Canada, and while they may have fewer goals, they have proven that they will not be an easy opponent to take down.

Jamaica is looking to make the Gold Cup final for the second straight time, while Canada will be looking to make it to the semi-finals for the first time since 2007.

The match will feature a lot of MLS players-- 10 on Canada’s roster and 9 on Jamaica’s. All eyes will be on Larin, who missed the group stage of the tournament. But many other youngsters have stood out for Canada so far this tournament, including Davies, Sam Adekugbe, Michael Petrasso, Mark Anthony-Kaye and Samuel Piette. Canada is a young roster hoping that they can make a name for themselves in the international arena. This match is their opportunity to do just that.

The match will air on FS1 and UniMas at 7:30pm on Thursday night. The victor will face the winner of Mexico vs. Honduras, which will be played in Glendale on Thursday night at 10:30pm.
