ORLANDO – October 7, 2015 – Orlando City SC midfielder Darwin Cerén has been called up to the El Salvador National Team for two international friendlies against CONCACAF foes Haiti and Guatemala.
Cerén and El Salvador will face Haiti at BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday, Oct. 9, before taking on Guatemala at the StubHub Center on Tuesday, Oct. 13. He will return in time for Orlando City’s matchup against New York City FC on Oct. 16.
Since making his debut for El Salvador in a friendly against New Zealand in May 2012, the midfielder has earned 30 caps for his native country – wearing the captain’s armband on numerous occasions.
Cerén has also played a crucial role in Orlando City’ inaugural MLS campaign – starting 23 times in 24 appearances. In addition, the defensive midfielder has recorded two goals and logged 2,074 minutes, playing a key role for the Lions in the team’s expansion season.
