With Saturday’s match marking the final regular season home game of 2017, the Pride need a win to get into the playoffs. A draw gets them one step closer, but three points guarantee them a spot in the final four.
2. In-Form Alex Morgan and Marta
Two of the most exciting players in women’s soccer will suit up in purple on Saturday, and both attackers have been on a tear as of late, both for club and country. Morgan has scored nine goals for the Pride this season and, just this past weekend, scored three times for the U.S. Women’s National team. Marta, who leads the Pride in goals and assists, had a goal and assist for Brazil a few days ago. The attacking duo has been firing on all cylinders lately and look to keep it going tomorrow.
3. Top Teams Going At It
Orlando currently sit in fourth in the NWSL standings, while Portland sit just above them in second. The Pride, undefeated in their last seven games, will face a Thorns team that are winners of their last four straight. With players like U.S. Women’s National Team starts Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan, Meghan Klingenberg and Allie Long, both Portland’s attack and defense are experienced and dangerous.
4. High Powered Offense vs Staunch Defense
The Pride come into the game with the most goals so far this season in NWSL, with 42, while Portland has allowed the second fewest, only 18. Playing in Orlando could give the home team the advantage, but the Thorns defense makes this one an exciting matchup.

Orlando has a chance to make club history, making it into the playoffs in only their second year. With a win, at home, in front of their home fans, they have a chance to celebrate making it into the final four and hopefully into the NWSL championship, which will be in Orlando City Stadium next month.
