ORLANDO, Fla. -- The FIFA Women's World Cup doesn't kick off for 154 more days, but Thursday evening may have provided a clear picture into what summer in New Zealand will look like.
Loud, proud -- and plenty of excitement from the red, white and blue.
The U.S., Brazil, Canada and Japan all took to the pitch at Exploria Stadium to open the 2023 SheBelieves Cup, a four-team tournament that runs through Feb. 22 and includes stops in Orlando, Nashville and Frisco, Texas.
Brazil blanked Japan 1-0 in the opening match, thanks to the quick foot of Orlando Pride's Marta who came in off the bench to provide the primary assist on the winning goal. The U.S. then honored former Pride star Alex Morgan for her 200 caps -- the 13th USWNT player to ever do so -- before taking on Canada in the nightcap.
