ORLANDO, Fla. (September 30, 2016) - Orlando City SC midfielder Kevin Molino and defender Tommy Redding were called up to the Trinidad & Tobago and United States Under-20 men’s national teams, respectively. Additionally, Pro Academy product David Loera was called up to the U.S. U-19 side, it was announced today.
Trinidad & Tobago head coach Stephen Hart selected a 21-player roster to compete in the third round of Caribbean Cup qualification. T&T will host the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. ET before traveling to face Martinique at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The top team will advance to the Caribbean Cup final round, as well as the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Molino has scored 12 goals in 34 caps for the Soca Warriors. The 26-year-old is enjoying a stellar season in MLS and is second on the team in both goals (10) and assists (7).
The 22-player U.S. U-20 roster, selected by head coach Tab Ramos, will compete in the 2016 U-20 Men’s Four Nations Tournament set to take place from Oct. 2-11 in Manchester, England. Redding and the USA will first face Germany on Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. ET, then the Netherlands on Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. ET, and finally the host country England on Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. ET.
The tournament will serve as further preparation for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which takes place in South Korea next May. Germany and England have already punched their ticket to the World Cup, so the USA will come into these matches ready to face a potential opponent, were they to qualify for the tournament next year. The Qualifying tournament takes place Feb. 17-March 5 in Costa Rica.
Redding, 19, has made 20 appearances and 17 starts for Orlando City since 2015. The Oviedo, Fla., native was Orlando City’s first Homegrown signing and previously featured for the U.S. U-17, U-18 and U-20 sides.
Loera was selected to U.S. U-19 MNT head coach Brad Friedel’s 24-player roster for a domestic training camp set to take place in Chula Vista, Calif., from Oct. 3-10. During the camp, the U-19s will face Liga MX side Xolos’ reserve squad at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 7. They will play another match at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 9, against an opponent yet to be determined.
Loera, who turns 18 years old on Sept. 10, is in his second season with the Orlando City U-17/18 side. The Orlando, Fla., native has also made three appearances with Orlando City B in the United Soccer League (USL) and earned the game-winning assist in stoppage time in his USL debut during OCB’s 2-1 win at Louisville City FC.
