Kevin Alston is no stranger to the push and pull of the first day of training. However, the 60-degree weather might be new-- the defender comes to Orlando after seven years with the New England Revolution. Alston says he’s excited about starting somewhere new. “It’s a change for me… But I was ready for a change.”
Alston is confident that his team can make the playoffs this year. Having watched and played against Orlando City last season, Alston says that the team “seemed like they had a lot of talent.” He notes the tradition and passion that the team plays with, and says that playoffs are an attainable goal. “I’m confident that we can strive for that this year,” said Alston.
Alston hopes that he can help his team succeed this season, whatever his role is. “I want to play my part and do whatever I can,” said a smiling Alston. The defender appeared in the playoffs last season with New England, who exited in the Knockout Round after a 2-1 loss to D.C United. In such a young franchise, an experienced player can make a big impact.
Alston ensures us that they’re not holding back. “There’s a lot of passion out there,” Alston said. “I think everybody’s hungry.”
