ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ally Watt gave Orlando Pride fans a reason to roar with her in Wednesday night's opening match of the 2023 NWSL Challenge Cup against North Carolina Courage.
Taking a perfect feed from Summer Yates that found a seam through the backline in the 56th minute, Watt powered a strike that bounced in for her first goal of the season -- even after Courage goalkeeper Casey Murphy managed to get a glove on it. Watt then turned and let out a thunderous shout of elation before being swarmed by her teammates.
A big goal and an even bigger moment for Orlando, helping lift the Pride to their first point in the eventual 1-1 draw at Exploria Stadium.
