More Debuts
The Montreal game saw several more debuts for Orlando City. Nani and Ruan both made their first starts at Orlando City Stadium; it was also Ruan’s first ever Orlando City start. Carlos Ascues made his 2019 debut, and Dom Dwyer saw his name in the starting XI for the first time this year as well. Rookie Santiago Patino made his professional debut in the 74th minute.
Patino Magnifico
Patino impressed in his pro debut, becoming the fastest rookie in Orlando City history to record an assist just 17 minutes into his first action. Patino is the third player to have an assist as a substitute for the Lions this year, following Nani and Dom Dwyer. Patino is also the first Orlando City Developmental Academy product to contribute an assist to the first team.
Life of Brian
Brian Rowe delivered a season-high eight saves in the Montreal game, bringing his total to 14 for the season. Rowe is second in MLS behind Seattle’s Stefan Frei in total saves.
Dwenty Goals
Dom Dwyer bagged his 19th goal as an Orlando City player against the Impact on Saturday. Dwyer is poised to becoming the third player in Orlando City history to score 20 MLS goals for the club after Cyle Larin and Kaka.
Wrong-Phillips?
Red Bulls striker Bradley Wright-Phillips has terrorized MLS defenses for years. His 79 regular season goals scored since when Orlando City entered the league leads MLS. Only four of those 79, though, have come against the Lions, with three coming in 2016. BWP did not score against Orlando City last season.
Hello, Old Friend
Former Orlando City center back Aurelien Collin has moved on to Philadelphia after three years in Harrison, but another former Lions defender has taken his place. Amro Tarek, who appeared 20 times last season for Orlando, has signed for Red Bulls and is likely to feature on Saturday night with reigning MLS Defender of the Year Aaron Long on international duty. Tarek started Red Bulls’ 1-1 opening day draw in Columbus.

Dom Dwyer scored a brace in last season’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Red Bulls. Orlando have won both games played against New York at Orlando City Stadium, but have dropped four straight at Red Bull Arena. The first goal in Orlando-RBNY history belongs to Sacha Kljestan, who scored it while playing for New York in 2015.
