ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 29, 2022) - Orlando City B has inked Orlando City Academy product Favian Loyola to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, it was announced today. Up to this point, Loyola has competed for OCB on an Academy contract.
“We are very excited for Favian to take this next step in his career,” Orlando City Technical Director and Assistant GM Ricardo Moreira said. “Following his success with the Academy, Favian’s move to Orlando City B epitomizes the pathway we are working to create from MLS NEXT to MLS NEXT Pro and hopefully one day to the First Team. We’re looking forward to watching his progression as he continues with OCB the rest of this season.”
Loyola has appeared eight times for OCB this campaign, finding the back of the net three times in that span, including a pair of finishes against Chicago Fire II to help the Lions overcome a 3-1 deficit to earn a 4-3 win on the road. The 17-year-old midfielder was also named to the MLS NEXT All-Star Game earlier this month, earning MVP honors in the match.
On the international stage, Loyola has been called up to the U.S. U-19 National Team for two separate stints this past year, most recently for a training camp in Carson, Calif.
Orlando City B returns to action this weekend, traveling to take on New England Revolution II on Saturday, Sept. 3 in a 7 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
