Orlando City Cup Returns for the Second Year

OC Cup 2nd year

ORLANDO – October 8, 2014 – Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) hosts its second annual Orlando City Cup this weekend, showcasing premier youth soccer teams from across the southeast.

The highly competitive U8-U19 boys and girls tournament will take place on October 11–12 at Sylvan Lake Park, Seminole Soccer Complex and Central Winds Park in Seminole County. Over 180 teams from throughout the state and southeastern United States will participate in the tournament.

Commenting on the Orlando City Cup, OCYS Executive Director Steve Rammel said, “We are excited about the teams participating in the Orlando City Cup. Last year’s event was great, and we are aiming to build on it this weekend. Following this event, we will have the OC Junior Pro Invitational and the OC Festival. Each event has a different theme, and I think that is important for our players participating.”

The return of the Orlando City Cup for the second consecutive year demonstrates Orlando City’s commitment to increasing soccer activities in Seminole County. As part of an agreement with Seminole County, Orlando City guaranteed a significant increase in economic impact generated within the county’s hotels connected to soccer-related activities.

In addition, the Seminole County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously 5-0 in August to secure Orlando City Soccer Club’s newest training facility within Sylvan Lake. As a result, Orlando City agreed to build four new soccer fields for community use in Seminole County and create several new community soccer programs.
