Orlando City’s Elite Club National League (ECNL) and Academy teams were in action at two different showcase events this past weekend, featuring incredible exposure to nationwide college scouts.
The two showcases were the College Cup Final Four in Boca Raton and the GSA College Cup in Atlanta, Georgia.
Six Orlando City teams ventured to Boca Raton, including the U15-U18 ECNL teams and the U-17 and U-18 girls Purple teams. Each team displayed fantastic performances in their fixtures, impressing the various college coaches in attendance.
Throughout the weekend, the ECNL and Purple teams outclassed national finalists, state champions and state finalists – gaining plaudits from the attending coaches and scouts.
Commenting on the positive showcase weekend Girls Academy Director and ECNL Head Coach Alan Hough said, “All of our teams performed very well, and we received a lot of traction with big college coaches watching our teams. From a tactical and soccer standpoint, we’re ahead of our competitors at this moment in time. The level of interest in our players from college coaches is very high right now.”
At the GSA Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia, the U-16 Purple and U-17 White teams also drew attention from college coaches after producing impressive results.
“Both teams received attention from colleges and performed very well,” continued Hough. “Both groups are having a good season and are looking forward to future showcase events.”
