ORLANDO, Fla. – Jan. 30, 2016 – Orlando City SC announced today it has waived midfielder Estrela.
“We’d like to thank Estrela for his contributions to the Club during our final USL season and inaugural Major League Soccer campaign,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath. “We wish him the best of luck.”
The defensive midfielder originally joined the Lions in the latter stages of the team’s 2014 USL season, making six appearances. In the team’s first season in MLS, the Portuguese international made two appearances, featuring in the side’s friendlies against English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion and Louisville City FC.
Orlando City opens the 2016 MLS season at the Orlando Citrus Bowl against Real Salt Lake on Mar. 6.
