On Thursday, Orlando City players toured the team’s new stadium for the first time. The stadium, which is set to open in 2017, marks a huge landmark for the organization and the players are excited about reaching this milestone.
“I think it’s a very nice stadium. We walked through it a bit,” Cyle Larin said after the tour. “I think it’s going to be a very good stadium to play in next year. I think it’s going to be a hard stadium to play in, but good for us.”
“It looks awesome. Obviously it’s not finished yet, but I can’t wait to see what the finished product looks like,” Tony Rocha said. “Extremely excited to play here.”
Orlando City players want to make the new stadium a home for them and their fans. Their hope is that the new stadium will intimidate traveling teams, and give Orlando City even more dominance at home.
“We’re gonna have the same support we had at Camping World Stadium, but the atmosphere is gonna be a lot better cause they’re gonna be closer to the field,” Rocha said. “I think it’s gonna be a fortress for us next year.”
“I think it’s a big thing for the fans, and for the players,” Larin said. “Hopefully we can do something special in this new stadium.”
