ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2020) - Orlando City SC forward Dom Dwyer will enter the free agency market, it was announced today, as his contract with the Club expired upon conclusion of the Lions historic 2020 Major League Soccer season.
Dwyer, 30, joined the Lions via a trade with Sporting Kansas City on July 25, 2017, marking his second stint in Orlando. Since then, he has appeared in 67 matches for Orlando City, scoring 24 goals to tie former Lions’ captain Kaka at second in Club history in MLS play. In 2020, Dwyer made two appearances for the Lions before he was sidelined for the remainder of the year with a knee injury.
A 2013 MLS Cup Champion with Sporting Kansas City, Dwyer began his first spell in Orlando that same year when he was loaned to the then-USL Pro side in March. He would go on to score a record 15 goals in 13 regular-season appearances before netting four finishes in the 2013 USL Pro Championship to lead the Lions to their second title.
