ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2025) – Orlando City SC has signed Homegrown defender Thomas Williams to a new contract through 2026, with a Club option in 2027, it was announced today. Williams’ original contract saw him join the First Team as a professional in June of 2021.
“Thomas is someone whose future we’re still very excited about and we’re happy to get him locked in with us for a couple more years,” said EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi. “He’s shown a lot of growth these last few seasons, continuing to get game action with Orlando City B and proving the importance of our development pathway, and we’re looking forward to having him with us for the foreseeable future.”
A native of Titusville, Fla., Williams joined the Orlando City Academy in 2015 and has since made 53 starts in 61 appearances all-time for both the Orlando City First Team and Orlando City B in MLS NEXT Pro, gaining over 4,500 minutes of experience, and featured as part of the Club’s 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup run that won the team’s first trophy of its MLS era.
The 20-year-old defender has also represented the United States in international play at the youth levels, making 14 appearances for the U.S. across the U-23, U-20, U-19 and U-17 levels.
