ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2022) – Orlando City SC is set to take on Liga MX side Tigres UANL in the Round of 16 of the 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, it was announced Monday. Specific match details, including ticket information, will be announced at a later date.
“We’re excited to have our path through this competition decided and to be playing against a strong rival like Tigres,” said Orlando City Head Coach Oscar Pareja. “To represent the Club and our fans in Concacaf Champions League for the first time in our organization’s history, and to have a new opportunity to bring another trophy to this city, is a great moment for all involved.”
The 2023 SCCL matchups will commence with the Round of 16 in March, followed by the quarterfinals and first leg semifinals in April, and the return leg semifinals and first leg final in May. The all-decisive return leg final, where the region’s new champion will be crowned, will take place on Sunday, June 4, 2023.
The Lions qualified for their first Concacaf Champions League after becoming the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Champions, while Tigres qualified as the best-ranked team on the Liga MX aggregate table across the Apertura 2021 and Clausura 2022 seasons.
