ORLANDO, Fla. (March 4, 2019) - Orlando Pride has signed goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer, defender Toni Pressley, as well as forwards Camila, Rachel Hill and Danica Evans to new contracts ahead of its fourth season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Per team and league policies, terms of the contracts were not announced.
“We are happy to be bringing Haley, Toni, Camila, Rachel and Danica back to Orlando this season. All five players have played an important piece in contributing to the Club over their previous seasons and we expect all of them to play significant roles, both on and off the field, this upcoming year,” Orlando Pride General Manager Erik Ustruck said.
“I am personally delighted that the players have signed for the new season,” Head Coach Marc Skinner said. “We’re really excited to finally get started. From now on, it’s a matter of a collective effort to challenge and continually improve every day. It’s the start of something really exciting for everyone involved.”
Kopmeyer, 28, joined Orlando Pride in 2018, as part of a trade with Seattle Reign FC. In her first season as a member of the Pride, Kopmeyer played in three games, starting in all of them. In Week 10, the Michigan native earned NWSL Save of the Week for a big, diving stop against her former club.
Before joining the Pride, Kopmeyer spent five seasons with the Reign beginning in 2013. Kopmeyer totaled 46 appearances, 185 saves and 11 clean sheets throughout her time in Seattle, with 20 of her appearances coming in her final season in 2017.
Pressley, 28, is coming off her third season with the Pride, where she saw action in 11 matches with 10 starts and one goal scored on the season. In 2017, Pressley played in 18 games, 13 of them starts, while registering a goal that earned her NWSL Goal of the Week against FC Kansas City and an assist in the NWSL semifinal against Portland. In her first season in Orlando in 2016, Pressley appeared in 14 matches with 11 starts.
The Florida State product previously played for the Houston Dash, Western New York Flash and Washington Spirit.
Camila, 24, returned to the pitch for the Pride on July 7, 2018 following an ACL tear she suffered in September of the previous year. The Brazilian went on to appear in nine consecutive matches for Orlando to finish out the season, with three starts.
In 2017, her first season as a member of the Pride, Camila played in 24 matches with 22 starts. She netted four goals, two of them earning NWSL Goal of the Week honors, while also registering five assists.
Hill, 23, is coming off a 2018 season where she made 21 appearances for the Pride with seven starts. She scored four goals in 2018, three of which came off the bench. In her first season with the Pride, Hill appeared in 14 matches, starting in eight of them where she scored three goals.
The UConn product most recently completed her second stint in Australia’s Westfield W-League, where she scored six goals and led the league with seven assists, while also helping Perth Glory reach the Grand Final.
Evans, 23, made five appearances for the Pride in 2018. She was selected with Orlando’s first pick (No. 22 overall) in the 2017 NWSL College Draft and made her first appearance in the opening game of that same season. Evans saw action in 12 matches in 2017 with one start, scoring one goal. That goal served as the first goal to be scored by a member of the Pride in Orlando City Stadium and earned her NWSL Goal of the Week honors.
