ORLANDO, Fla. (May 8, 2023) — The Orlando Pride and forward Julie Doyle have agreed to a new two-year contract, signing the player through the 2024 season, it was announced today. Doyle was originally drafted by the Pride in the first round (No. 11 overall) in the 2022 NWSL Draft, with her contract set to expire at the end of the 2023 season.
“Julie has proven to be a vital player in our attack and critical to the hardworking and tenacious culture we’re building,” Orlando Pride VP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Haley Carter said. “Her ability to challenge a back line and her desire to take on the opposition will create goal scoring opportunities for us. She fully invested in herself in the off-season and is committed to the future we are creating here. We’re very excited to keep her in Orlando and to continue to help her grow both on the field and off.”
Doyle has appeared in 20 matches across all competitions since joining the Pride. The California native scored her first two professional goals in back-to-back games, with a 46th-minute strike at the Kansas City Current followed by a 64th-minute goal against Angel City during the 2022 regular season.
“I am very happy to continue my journey within a club and a team that will allow me to develop fully. I believe this organization is capable of achieving greatness and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success,” Doyle said. “A big thank you to the entire Pride organization, the fans and the community who show up and support us each day. I’m so excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to be back on the field soon in front of you all!”
Doyle played collegiately at Santa Clara University and helped the Broncos to their second national title in program history in 2020, scoring one goal and adding four assists while donning the captain’s armband for the side. She finished her college career with 70 appearances, 55 of which were starts, and scored 16 goals while also providing 14 assists. Hailing from Newport Beach, Doyle was a three-time All-WCC selection, earning First Team All-West regionals honors as a senior in 2020.
At the international level, Doyle has represented the United States at the U-15, U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels. She was also named as an alternate for the U.S. at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.
