ORLANDO, Fla. (March 25, 2022) — Orlando Pride (0-0-1, 1 point) heads out on the road to face the North Carolina Courage (1-0-0, 3 points) on Saturday, March 26, at WakeMed Soccer Park. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match on Paramount+ with international viewers able to tune in on Twitch.
“[We expect] a competitive game. They play a lot different as far as their system and their setup. We talked about different ways we can defend, they obviously have really good players with Debinha and [Denise] O’Sullivan who are dangerous in the attack,” Head Coach Amanda Cromwell said of the opposition. “We have to focus on how to be a little bit more dangerous in front of goal and put our chances away, but also how we’re defending from the front and how we can win the ball in good spots.”
The Pride travel to WakeMed looking for its fifth-consecutive result in North Carolina dating back to the 2020 Fall Series, having taken a win and trio of draws in four visits over the last two years across all competitions.
The side enters the weekend after battling to a scoreless draw with the defending NWSL Champion Washington Spirit in its Challenge Cup opener. Goalkeeper Erin McLeod posted four saves to record her first clean sheet for the Pride on the night, while four members of the side made their debuts in purple in Megan Montefusco, Angharad James, Mikayla Cluff and Darian Jenkins.
McLeod serves as one of three goalkeepers to have recorded a clean sheet over the weekend, along with Saturday’s opposition in between the sticks in Katelyn Rowland and Washington’s Aubrey Kingsbury.
The Courage come into Saturday’s match after taking a 2-0 shutout victory over NJ/NY Gotham FC. The home side scored on both sides of the half with goals from Brianna Pinto and Abby Erceg, while Rowland had to record just one save to keep Gotham scoreless on the night.
Following Saturday’s match, the Pride return home for a midweek matchup against NJ/NY Gotham FC at Exploria Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m ET with tickets available here or by calling (855) ORL-CITY.
