With the team’s MLS opener just over a week away, Orlando City looked to fine tune their game in a Saturday night friendly against Esporte Clube Bahia. One thing was for sure, the team’s quality on set pieces looked to be in mid-season form.
All four goals from Seb Hines on the night were expertly delivered by team captain Kaká. Three from corners and another from a free kick to the right of the 18 yard box.
“The quality of the ball was great tonight,” said Head Coach Adrian Heath. “There were large players in the box which played to our advantage. We had a lot of practice in the set pieces in the off season. We wanted to change our styles from last season because we didn’t score enough off set pieces last year.”
That practiced seemed to pay off for Seb Hines, who’s lone goal last season was a late winner against Montreal during the playoff hunt.
“To score four is something I’m very proud of. I couldn’t believe I had the opportunity [to score four goals],” said Hines. “Working on the head set piece has been really important and it has really paid off. We have the players with the stature to do it and working has really paid off. I hope I can continue to score off of corners and set pieces and help the team.”
With the preseason now in the rear view, Hines thinks Saturday’s six goal performance could certainly help carry momentum into the regular season.
“Everyone has a desire to score and hopefully continue to be successful. We continue to work hard and it shows the character of the team. I think the win today is great for the morale of the team. The team has definitely grown together, we communicate great and work well together.”
