ORLANDO – December 5, 2014
– Orlando City Soccer Club’s Founder and President Phil Rawlins has been named 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year by i4 Business Magazine – which serves as a voice for Orlando businesses’ economic corridor.
Rawlins was officially presented the award by City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer at i4 Business Magazine’s award ceremony on Thursday, December 4.
“I was surprised and delighted to be named Entrepreneur of the Year by i4 Business Magazine,” said Rawlins. “I really appreciate the magazine recognizing everything that the Club has done. It’s a tribute to everybody that works at the Club and the team that I work with. This award is for them more than it is for me. I just happen to lead a really good team.”
Rawlins’ entrepreneurial background began prior to Orlando City SC with his former company OnTarget – a highly successful sales and marketing consultancy which worked with the most of the world’s leading technology companies.
Since arriving to the City Beautiful, Rawlins has had tremendous success in the marketplace – guiding Orlando to becoming the “Soccer Capital of the South.” In 2013, Rawlins was voted Orlando’s Downtowner of the Year for his efforts in helping to develop downtown and was also honored by MBA Orlando – Central Florida’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce – as a Community Champion in 2014.
Most recently, Rawlins was voted into the USL PRO’s Hall of Fame alongside 100 of the most influential figures in American soccer for his assistance in forging the league forward during the past four years.
