Here's a look at the past week for the Orlando City Academy and Orlando City B.
MLS NEXT U17: Lions clinch division with win over Atlanta, qualify for playoffs
It was a dominant performance for the young Lions in their final MLS Next regular season match as they took down Atlanta United 4-0 this past weekend.
Bernardo Gonçalves scored twice, with Thomas Bowe and Justin Ellis adding the other two, helping Orlando clinch the division for the first time since 2021, when they won the playoff championship.
The team will now await their fate in the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs, which will kick off in June. The schedule for the playoff format will be released on June 9.
MLS NEXT U15: Lions finish regular season against Atlanta, prepare for playoffs
The U15s finished out their MLS NEXT regular season vs Atlanta United, falling 3-0 on the road.
In the final standings, the Lions finished second, but due to their performance in the MLS NEXT Flex tournament last week, they have qualified for the playoffs.
Just like the U17s, they'll wait for the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs schedule to drop on June 9 to see who they will play.
MLS NEXT Pro: Orlando City B battle back from 2-0 down, draw match with Atlanta United 2
Orlando City B (4-3-2, 15 points) overcame a two-goal deficit to battle to a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United 2 (3-4-2, 12 points) on Friday night at Osceola County Stadium.
The match saw forward Jack Lynn record a second-half brace, scoring two goals off the bench to lead the Lions to split the points on the evening. The finishes served as Lynn’s third and fourth of the campaign, now sitting as the team leader in 2023. Both Moises Tablante and Cristian Medina earned an assist on the night, the first of the year for the former and the third for the latter to extend his team lead.
Following an Atlanta penalty kick that saw the visitors take a two-goal lead in the 51st minute, Lynn entered the match and found the back of the net with his first touch of the game just a minute later. The Five Stripes would be awarded another penalty in the 68th, but this time would miss from the mark, with the Lions finding the equalizer shortly thereafter.
Orlando City B would have the chance to take all three points from the match, with Jhon Solís hitting the crossbar in the 84th, followed by a strike from Wilfredo Rivera in second-half stoppage time that was saved by Atlanta goalkeeper Sebastián Guerra.
The Lions now turn their attention to Thursday, May 25, set to travel to DRV PNK Stadium to take on Inter Miami CF II.
