What better way to avenge defeat than to turn it on its head? Thatâs exactly what Orlando City will be looking to do when the Lions head to Atlanta in seven days for a rematch.
The fact that the team has a chance to rectify Fridayâs loss with a quick turnaround will make the pill a little easier to swallow.
Atlanta United took the three points in a match that could have gone either way. From the opening kickoff into the final ten minutes the teams were dead even. A wonder strike from Hector Villalba off a quick throw in proved to be the difference in the scoreline.
In his post match press conference, City head coach Jason Kreis was keen to note his teamâs encouraging overall performance. The Lions fought hard and, for long periods of the match, were the better team.
âVery disappointed with the result. But this is one that I would say Iâm pleased with the performance,â Kreis said. âThis is the tough job about being a professional soccer coach is that nobody remembers the performance,â he added. âWhen you lose, you lose.â
In his presser, Kreis was asked about the teamsâ rematch just one week away:
âMaybe our performance warranted better than what we got. If thereâs one way to rectify that situation itâs to go [to Atlanta] and get those three points back.
