As the Lions continue their preparation for the 2023 regular season, OrlandoCitySC.com is sitting down with members of the team for a few random, off-the-cuff questions to get to know them on and off the pitch in a new series, Stoppage Time.

Next up: goalkeeper Adam Grinwis.

How are you feeling about the team going into the new season? Is it nice to get back out here and pick up where you left off last season?

Adam Grinwis: It’s so nice to be back. Credit to Oscar (Pareja) and his staff, and Luiz (Muzzi) and Ricardo (Moreira) – they did a great job filling in the gaps that we needed to by not only filling it in with great, quality players, but great, quality men as well. I think that’s one thing that our club prides itself on is having men of integrity, and it just makes coming into work a great experience – a great group of guys.

Which teammate would you say is the biggest jokester in the locker room?

AG: I’m going to say Wilder Cartagena because he has the special talent of being able to speak both English and Spanish, so he can play pranks and make jokes with every single person on the team. The guy’s always got a smile on his face, but he’s the first one to get into you.

Who do you trust the most with the aux cord for music?

AG: Definitely not Mason Stajduhar. I’d say he’s the last on the list, but yet he’s always the first one to put the music on.

Pedro (Gallese) is probably the best – he’s always been the guy that runs the aux. And also, the Argentines love their Cumbia (music), so there’s a lot of Cumbia being played by Gastón (González).

What genre is Mason into?

AG: Country-Rap – which I didn’t even know was a collab, but it’s something that he’s really into. (laughs) Nobody likes it, but yet he still always jumps on.

Do you have any special talents away from soccer? Any hobbies that you’re into?

AG: I love board sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, paddleboarding – kind of anything that involves a board. It’s tough to do at this point in my career because you’ve got to save the body. But if I can get out on a paddleboard, it’s kind of a zen experience and it doesn’t take too much off the body, so any kind of meditative experience like that is always nice. But definitely the board sports, man – that’s my favorite.

You’re in a good spot with it here in Orlando.

AG: Dude, it’s perfect – especially while it’s this nice.
