(Still) Can’t Be Beat
The Pride are sitting on five straight games unbeaten. This is the team’s longest unbeaten run of the season dating back to a 2-2 draw against Racing Louisville on July 3. Four of the five matches in the streak have ended in draws with their one victory coming against the Houston Dash in a 1-0 win at Exploria Stadium.Â
Never Out Of It
The Pride were able to walk out of Exploria with a point against Angel City FC courtesy of an Angel City own goal in the 90th minute. The late second-half goal to tie the game counted for the third time the Pride have scored in second-half stoppage time to earn a result so far this season. The own goal also marked the fourth time the Pride have hit the back of the net in stoppage time this campaign.
Oh, Doyle Rules!
Pride forward Julie Doyle became the first Pride player to score in back-to-back games this season with second-half finishes against both Angel City and Kansas City. Doyle’s first goal came in the 46th minute against the Current when she got on the end of a pass from Meggie Dougherty Howard and slotted it past the goalkeeper. Her most recent finish against Angel City FC came from relentless work as she jumped on a bad pass from Angel City in their own box and made no mistake on the finish, sending a rocket into the roof of the net.Â
