1 - The Home Stretch
Orlando Pride kickstarts a three-game homestand on Saturday, the final three regular season games the Pride will play at Orlando City Stadium.
The series will be an important one of the Pride, who look to hold onto their current playoff position while playing some of the league’s top teams. After Saturday’s game, Orlando hosts Seattle Reign FC on Sept. 9 and Portland Thorns FC on Sept. 23.
2 - Battling With Boston
Saturday’s game marks the third and final meeting between the two teams this season.
The Pride took the first game on June 3 with a 2-0 win and later beat the Breakers - just two weeks ago - by a 2-1 scoreline.
3 - Ironwoman Krieger
Through 20 games, defender Ali Krieger is the only Pride player to have appeared every minute of every match. Krieger is just one of eight players in the league to have played 1,800 minutes so far this season.
4 - Undefeated August
With a 2-1 win at FC Kansas City on Aug. 26, the Pride compiled its first undefeated month in team history.
The Pride started the month with a 1-1 draw against Chicago on Aug. 5, followed by a 3-0 win over Washington and 5-0 win over Sky Blue. Orlando finished the month with two wins on the road, both 2-1 victories at Boston and Kansas City.
5 - Alex's August
After an impressive showing last month, Alex Morgan was tabbed as the August Player of the Month. After rejoining the Pride on July 1, Morgan scored seven of her eight goals during the five-game span, and also contributed two assists. She has scored the game-winner in three-straight games.
Morgan is the first player in NWSL history to record the game-winner in three consecutive matches.
6 - Pride Add Two
With the NWSL roster freeze on Tuesday, Aug. 29, the Pride added two more pieces to increase the roster to 20 players. The Pride signed mid elders Jocelyn Blankenship and Jordan O’Brien, both who had been training with the Pride since last season.
O’Brien will be unavailable for Saturday’s game with an excused absence.
7 - Double The Honors
Orlando Pride forward Alex Morgan and goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris both earned weekly honors for their performances in Week 18.
Morgan’s game-winning goal against FC Kansas City was tabbed as the Goal of the Week, scoring on a waist-high redirection in the 87th minute. Harris earned her second consecutive Save of the Week, shutting down Sydney Leroux with a 41st minute save.
