ORLANDO (July 30, 2015) – Orlando City SC defender Tommy Redding has been loaned to the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL for the remainder of the season.
“With the experienced defenders that we already have, this is a great opportunity for Tommy to get valuable playing time at a solid level,” said General Manager Paul McDonough. “We know he has a lot of potential, so we wanted to get him quality minutes in games to continue his development.”
The promising defender for Orlando has yet to make a league appearance in the Lions’ inaugural MLS campaign – with veteran center-backs Aurélien Collin, Sean St. Ledger and Seb Hines listed ahead of him on the depth chart.
Redding, 18, was signed by Orlando City as the Club’s first-ever MLS Homegrown player in 2014 – featuring 14 times in USL as the team won its third Regular Season championship. The defender has also been a mainstay at the youth national team level, appearing regularly for the U-17, U-18 and most recently U-20 U.S. Men’s National Teams.
