1 - Hashtag Fill The Bowl
C’mon, the first match between Orlando City and New York City FC that pops into memory is March 8th, 2015. This match lived up to the hype as City and NYCFC both kicked off life in MLS at Camping World Stadium. We won’t ever forget seeing over 62,000 lose it after Kaka’s stoppage-time free kick found the back of the net. Easy classic.
2 - Hashtag Welcome Home
No City vs. NYCFC match will probably top the 2015 opener but the 2017 opener is a close second. March 5th, 2018 lacked the late goal drama that the 2015 opener brought, but debuting Orlando City Stadium with a 1-0 win will be a day we will never forget.
3 - Hashtag Make It Count
Down 1-0, come back, win 2-1. We’re throwing it back to October 16th, 2015 for our #3 pick. The inaugural season was coming to a close, playoffs were within reach, and City had to win. NYCFC took the lead in the 45th minute, but City stormed back with two Cyle Larin goals in the 62nd and 70th minutes. The go-ahead goal was particularly memorable as City countered NYCFC who had a man down in their own box and kept Cyle Larin and Adrian Winter onside. The pair eventually linked up to finish the counter and give City the win.
4 - Did it for the Ocean
In at number four, City’s 2-1 win on the road last year at Yankee Stadium in the special edition adidas Parley kits. Not only did City quiet the Blues’ crowd behind a Cyle Larin brace, the boys looked good doing it. Oh, and who could forget Joe Bendik stonewalling a David Villa blast on the line in stoppage time to seal the three points?
