Last week Orlando City Soccer Club announced plans for a state-of-the-art training complex at Osceola Heritage Park that will house both Orlando City and Orlando Pride. The complex, formerly the spring training home of Major League Baseball’s Houston Astros, is set to be complete by July 2019. Here are a few key highlights:
One Complex For Two teams
Currently, City trains at Sylvan Lake Park while the Pride train down the road at Seminole Soccer Complex. Osceola Heritage Park now brings both teams together all in one location making the operation easier for both teams and their support staff.
Four Fields
The training complex at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee will have four fields over 20 acres. This is an upgrade from the current facilities at Sylvan Lake Park and Seminole Soccer Complex.
Amenities
The complex at Osceola Heritage Park will also have fitness, training and recovery centers, a film room and players’ dining and lounge areas.
The City and Pride locker rooms will be near replicas of the home locker room at Orlando City Stadium to allow for seamless transition from training to games. Mentally, this gives the feeling that players are coming to work in the same environment as a game and will make an easy transition come match day.
30,000 Square Feet of Office Space
This is a key point. Not only will the team have a state-of-the-art space to work on their game, but so will the technical and support staff. This is crucial because there's a lot that goes behind the scenes, and it gives the people that support the teams on the field the ability to do their best work in the best possible environment.
