With the start of the regular season around the corner, excitement was running high during the first training session of the year on Monday. Coach Adrian Heath seemed very happy about the condition of his returning players, even skipping the first few days of conditioning and getting right into practice.
That included Midfielder Kevin Molino, who was very active in his first full team practice since his season ending injury last season. Heath made it clear how “excited” he was about his return, “[Molino] was a huge miss and the more the season went on the more I realized that had we had him I firmly believe we could have made the playoffs.”
Last year, Adrian Heath set the bar on the first day of training with the expectation of playoffs. This year that same message was clear, but with one major exception. Coach Heath noted it is “totally different” this time around stating, “We got three or four new guys who we’re looking forward to working with but the fact that… all the guys are here a year on will bode well for everybody.”
With a more unified team, the return of an Orlando City veteran, and exciting offseason signings, the future of Orlando soccer looks promising. Coach Heath affirmed, “Orlando City is in great hands the next few years.”
