Peru has announced their final World Cup roster that will be representing La Blanquirroja in Russia. No surprise, City midfielder Yoshimar Yotún was named to the 23-man squad. Yoshi has been a regular in the starting XI for Head Coach Ricardo Gareca in recent friendlies and through the team's CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying campaign. The versatile City midfielder started and played the full 90 minutes in Peru's friendly on Sunday in which La Blanquirroja won over Saudi Arabia to the tune of 3-0.
Peru will open their 2018 World Cup in Group C play on Saturday, June 16th at 12:00 p.m. ET against Denmark. Their next match will be against France on Thursday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. ET and then their final Group C match will take place on Tuesday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. ET against Australia.
