The Florida Cup, an annual international celebration of soccer and entertainment in Central Florida, welcomes Ky-Mani Marley to Orlando City Stadium on Jan. 10.
Ky-Mani will kick off celebrations with a special halftime appearance with a couple of classics for all in attendance of the opening night match between current UEFA Champions League contender Ajax Amsterdam and Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
A die-hard Ajax supporter and life-long football fan and player, Ky-Mani was born in Falmouth, Jamaica. Ky-Mani is the only son between the legendary and globally beloved reggae artist Bob Marley and Anita Belnavis, a Jamaican table tennis champion. Remaining true to his Jamaican culture, Ky-mani’s fondness for all genres of music influences the work he creates. Ky-mani is an artist with no limits. Incorporating world music, hip-hop, blues, rock, and a grass roots sound into his music, the product is the pure representation of life for Ky-mani.
“It’s an honor to be invited to participate in this global event. I am excited because it’s the perfect combination of my two passions: music & football. I’m looking forward to sharing wonderful moments."
Commenting on the announcement, Florida Cup CEO Ricardo Villar said, “It is an honor to host Ky-Mani in our event. It reinforces our message of unity and diversity. We look forward to a wonderful evening on Jan. 10, and an electric atmosphere.”
Ky-Mani’s halftime appearance will mark the first entertainment performance at Orlando City Stadium since opening its doors on March 2017.
