ORLANDO, Fla. (July 2, 2024) - Orlando Pride players Marta, Rafaelle, Adriana and Angelina have all been tabbed as a part of Brazil’s roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the first three named to the country’s 18-player roster, while Angelina will serve as one of four traveling alternates for the tournament.

This Olympics is shaping up to be a historic one for the nation, as Marta recently announced that 2024 will be her final year competing at the international level for Brazil. The 38-year-old is an icon of the game, often considered the best player in the history of the women’s game. Marta began her career with the senior team in 2002 at age 16 and has since totaled 119 goals at the international level, the most ever scored by a Brazilian player.

2024 will mark Marta’s sixth Olympic Games and, should she score a goal in Paris, she will become the first player – male or female – to score a goal at six-consecutive Olympics. Marta is currently the Pride’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 35 goals across her 114 appearances, also a Club record.

Rafaelle, 33, will make her third Olympic appearance after being named to the 2016 and 2020 rosters for Brazil. The defender made her debut for Brazil in December of 2011 and has totaled 77 international appearances, recently wearing the armband for her country. Joining the Pride during the 2023 season, Rafaelle has totaled 31 total appearances across all competitions, with one goal, scored in her Orlando debut last year.

Adriana, 27, has the opportunity to make her Olympic debut after being named to her second-consecutive roster. The forward was previously selected for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but was eventually ruled out due to injury. On the international stage, Adriana has tallied 14 goals for her country over 59 appearances. At the Club level, the Piauí, Brazil native has made 32 appearances for the Pride with nine goals, two of those coming in the team’s most recent 3-0 win at Angel City FC.

Angelina has been named one of four alternates for the tournament, who will travel to Paris and be available should an injury arise within the squad. The midfielder debuted for Brazil during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and has totaled 23 appearances for her national team, with her first goal scored in September of 2021. After signing with the Pride as a free agent ahead of the 2024 NWSL season, Angelina has made 10 appearances thus far with Orlando, scoring her first goal in purple on April 26 at Washington.

Brazil has been drawn into Group C, set to face Nigeria on July 25, Japan on July 28 and Spain on July 31 in the Group Stage.
