1. Another game, another record broken by the Orlando Pride in what is becoming a historic season. With their 1-0 victory against the Houston Dash, the Pride are unbeaten in 18 straight NWSL games, setting a new league record.
2. Fall may be just around the corner, but it's still summer in Orlando. Summer Yates continued her breakout season with another goal, the game-winning tally in the 67th minute. Yates started the year off hot but cooled off once Barbra Banda arrived and took much of the goal-scoring load off the shoulders of her teammates, but Yates has stepped up when the team has needed her most and has delivered timely goals to give the Pride much-needed points.
3. Yates may have scored the goal, but Angelina deserves credit for the game-winner as well. The Brazilian, who recently captained her national team at the 2024 Summer Olympics, helping them earn a silver medal, played an immaculate pass through the heart of the Houston defense to find Yates in on goal. With so many talented Brazilians on the roster, Angelina may have been overlooked and underestimated at the beginning of the year, but she has been one of the most consistent and reliable producers in the midfield for the Pride.
4. Speaking of records being broken, Anna Moorhouse is now the record-holder for most clean sheets (8) in a single season and clean sheets for the team all-time (15) after Friday's 1-0 victory in Texas. Moorhouse was not tested too often on the night, but she did make some tough saves, including a blast from close range in the 76th minute. The English netminder has had an incredible season to date and does not look to be cooling off anytime soon.
5. Two debuts were made in Houston. Carson Pickett, who returns to Orlando after previously playing for the team during the 2018-20 seasons, subbed into the match in the second half. Meanwhile, Swedish talent Evelina Duljan made her NWSL regular-season debut for the Pride after appearing in the Summer Cup.
6. The right post denied what would have been an equalizing goal for Houston in the 86th minute. The chance was arguably Houston's best of the night, and if it had been any other season in the Pride's history, that ball would have pinged off the post and over the line, but there's some special aura around this Pride team, and the ball is bouncing to their benefit in 2024.
7. While many things went the Pride's way on the night and they walked away from Houston with three more points, the first time they've done so since 2017, the Pride looked a little rusty at times. There was little to no celebratory reaction by the players after the final whistle. While Head Coach Seb Hines and the squad may have some things to work on to get back to their high-flying ways, the team was still able to walk away from the match with three points while not playing their best.
8. The Pride will now return home to host NJ/NY Gotham FC at 5 p.m. ET on Sept. 1, the team's first home game since their Aug. 1 appearance in the Summer Cup.
