Opening Statement

“Obviously pleased with the win, pleased with the three points. We continue our momentum from the last away game against Kansas so overall, pleased with result. I think we can play a lot better, the performance wasn't quite there. But one thing with this team is their attitude, their mentality. Even towards the end, the calmness to keep the ball and run down the clock was great. To keep a clean sheet away from home and then we got the goal that we much needed. We rode our luck, as well, with them [Houston] hitting the post and it not going in. But sometimes you need that. Sometimes you need a bit of luck on your side. So overall, pleased with the result, but a lot to build on moving forward.”

On the defense’s clean sheet and Anna Moorhouse’s records set tonight

“It's not just the backline and the goalkeeper, it's a collective effort. Even forwards tracking back, being difficult to play through. The pressure from the front, as well, causing turnovers. Like I said, it's a collective effort. We put a lot of work into it, and it's well deserved, because even towards the end, like I said, we rode our luck, but that's because of the effort and the work rate of the players. I'm really pleased with Anna, as well, as setting a new record, because again, she's put a lot of work into her craft and it’s fully deserved again.”

On team’s transition to set the undefeated streak and record for most team wins in a season

“Records are great. It's nice when you break them, but we want something at the end of it to show. I think you can see the effort. You can see the attitude of the players. Their desire, again, a lot of hard work's been put into their craft and what they've done this year. You can see their togetherness, players coming off the bench and making a difference. Summer [Yates] coming off the bench and scoring the winning goal. Really, really pleased for her as well. And so, again, everyone has to contribute. Everyone has to play a part in it. And, yeah, we just want to continue to keep winning and staying undefeated throughout the season.”

Orlando Pride Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse

Opening Statement

“Yeah, it was definitely a match that has had a break proceeding it. A little bit messy. But we got the win and the clean sheet, and that's what's most important.”

On breaking the Pride single season shutout record and the Pride all time shutout record

“It sounds pretty good. I have been here for three years and only played for two years, so it is pretty incredible I have broken both of those records. It is something I am proud of. I don’t think I can take all of the credit for it to be honest. It is a team game. I have a great 10 players in front of me, I can’t even say backline because we defend so well as a team. A lot of credit has to go to them really. I have a great, great team in front of me and I definitely couldn’t do it without them.”

On how players are able to step into the backline and not lose a beat

“I think a lot of it has to do with communication. A lot of it is just everyone knowing the job they have to do. We have principles in defending and we defend as a team, we defend hard, and we never give up. I think everyone knows those principles, everyone follows those principles so it kind of makes it easy. Everyone is on the same page with how we are defending and it results in clean sheets.”

Orlando Pride Forward Summer Yates

Opening Statement

“Super excited to be back. We have our second half of the season, so being able to start it off with three points is great. We are looking forward to the next couple of games.”

On the goal she scored

“Me and [Angelina] made eye contact and we have done it a million times in training, but she played a beautiful ball in behind. I knew it was going to get through because she has that technical ability. Jane Campbell is a great goalkeeper, so had to take a breath before I shot, but it was a great ball by [Angelina] and just overall good buildup for that to happen.”

On the transition she has made from last year to this

“Last year I was a rookie, and I had a lot to learn. This offseason, I worked really hard to get to the position that I am now and it just comes with a trust with my teammates and my coaches that they have given me from the beginning of the season. It has allowed me to play at my full potential. It has been great and hopefully more to come. I am still learning every day so hopefully just getting more goals and more wins, that would be great.”
