Orlando City’s first match in their new stadium will not be against New York City FC on March 5th. It will be a few days before, during Kickoff Week, when players from Orlando City, Orlando Pride, and OCB will face off against 100 local kids.
The match will take place on Thursday, March 2nd and will give kids between the ages of eight and ten the opportunity to experience the new stadium in an exciting way. They will play two 20 minutes halves, in which our Pros will show off their skills while they are severely outnumbered by some of their biggest fans.
This soccer spectacle was inspired by the final match played by Joseba Etxeberria, a fifteen year veteran at Spanish club Athletic Bilbao, who decided to play the last game of his career against 200 local kids. The match highlights Orlando City’s ongoing relationship with the city and the community.
All that it costs to attend the match is a $10 charitable donation to the Orlando City Foundation. Season ticket members will get in for free-- tickets will be loaded into your Account Manager. So as we gear up for the start of the 2017 season, come out and support your players and your local community in christening Orlando City’s new home.
