Brief Background
Donât know Juventus? Donât sweat it. You might have heard about them recently in the headlines as the team that Cristiano Ronaldo just signed with after his World Cup run. Juventus, affectionately known as La Vecchia Signora or The Old Lady, is a Serie A side that was founded in 1897 and plays in Torino, Italy. The club has won the last seven Serie A titles and has placed runners-up in the Champions League most recently as 2015 and 2017. On both occasions, they lost out to Real Madrid and new signing, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Recent Form
Juventus has won their last four matches. All four coming against some traditionally strong sides. Juventus topped Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League Quarterfinal but were knocked out by Cristiano Ronaldoâs late penalty. They then took the Coppa Italia Final over AC Milan 4-0, and then most recently took preseason wins over Bayern Munich and Benfica.
Whoâs Missing
Now, it is preseason so donât expect to see Yoshi and the All-Stars lining up against a full strength Juventus. The Italian side will have many of their Italian stars playing, but guys that featured in the World Cup are just returning to Italy from their vacations. Douglas Costa, Juan Cuadrado, Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Paulo Dybala are names that will be absent in the match versus the MLS All-Stars.
