Orlando City SC acquires 2026 MLS SuperDraft first round selection from Houston Dynamo FC

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2025) – Orlando City SC has acquired a natural first round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft from Houston Dynamo FC in exchange for Homegrown defender Mikey Halliday, it was announced today. In addition, the Lions will retain a sell-on percentage on Halliday in the event that Houston transfers the defender out of the club.

The 22-year-old defender has made 18 starts in 43 appearances for the Lions since signing a First Team contract in 2020, providing two assists in that span, helping the Lions to capture their first trophy of the Club’s MLS era in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Halliday also made an additional five appearances for Orlando City B of MLS NEXT Pro.

Internationally, Halliday has played for the United States U-20 Men’s National Team since 2022, featuring in 12 matches including six in the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship and four in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
