ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 19, 2018) - Orlando City SC has acquired a natural second round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft from D.C. United in exchange for the rights to goalkeeper Earl Edwards, Jr.
Edwards’ contract was set to expire following the conclusion of the 2018 MLS season, however, the Club retains his rights through the end of the calendar year.
Edwards, 26, was selected in the third round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by City. The San Diego native appeared in six career matches for the Lions, with five starts coming this past season.
The 2019 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas will take place on Friday, Jan. 11, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Expansion side FC Cincinnati will have the first overall selection.
Orlando City currently owns the No. 3, No. 27, No. 38, No. 59, No. 75, No. 94 and No. 96 picks in the 2019 SuperDraft.
