ORLANDO, Fla. (March 25, 2021) - Nearly two weeks from the start of the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, the Orlando Pride has signed defender Ally Haran to a one-year contract, it was announced today. With the deal, Haran re-joins the Pride after featuring for the Club at the NWSL Fall Series on a short-term contract last season.
“We're pleased to officially add Ally to our squad for the upcoming season,” Orlando Pride General Manager Ian Fleming said. “She is a versatile piece for our back line, positionally aware, and her continuous development during preseason is a testament to the work that she's put in thus far. We look forward to seeing that progress continue.”
Haran, 24, returns to the Pride after logging two appearances in the NWSL Fall Series in 2020. In the Pride’s final match of the competition against North Carolina, Haran scored her first professional goal to draw the home side level, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to tie the Courage 3-3 on the afternoon.
Prior to coming to Orlando, Haran enjoyed brief stints with the Houston Dash and North Carolina Courage following a year in Iceland with UMF Selfoss. While in Iceland, she started 19 matches and netted two goals before eventually being named to the Pepsi-Deildin 2018 Team of the Year.
A product out of Wake Forest University, Haran started 66 of her 67 total appearances for the Demon Deacons from 2014-17, scoring four goals and adding three assists throughout her collegiate career. As a senior, she anchored a Wake Forest backline that totaled 11 shutouts on the calendar year. At the international level, Haran has featured for both the Canadian and U.S. WNT U-20 sides, as well as the U.S. U-19 National Team.
