Hometown Heroes

Following the victory against New England Revolution II last Wednesday, Orlando City B remained unbeaten at home to start the 2025 campaign. The Lions have gone unbeaten in each of their three home games at Osceola County Stadium this season, a feat only accomplished once before by the Club since joining MLS NEXT Pro in 2022. Dating back to last season, OCB has put together seven straight unbeaten performances on home turf, outscoring opponents 15-6 in that span. A win against New York Red Bulls II in their next home match on Saturday, April 27th would see the Lions tie their longest home unbeaten streak to start a season at four games, set back in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season.

The Shak Special

Orlando City SC midfielder Shak Mohammed has found a knack for scoring in the most dramatic fashion and most important moments of matches this season. The leading scorer for OCB last season has continued his form into the Lions’ 2025 campaign, recording three goals on the year, with two of them serving as the eventual game-winners in OCB's recent matches against Crown Legacy FC and New England Revolution II. Mohammed currently leads the Lions in goals scored and sits tied for third in MLS NEXT Pro.

Dazzling Defenders

Lions’ defenders Hayden Sargis and Jackson Platts each recorded their first assists of the season and firsts all-time across all competitions for Orlando City B in the team’s win over Revs II last week. The backline duo’s first helpers of their careers occurred on the same play when Platts received a pass from Sargis before placing a long through ball to midfielder Shak Mohammed as he got in behind the defense and slotted it home for the lone goal of the match. Being subbed into the match just three minutes before the 81st-minute goal, defender Hayden Sargis proved his ability to make an immediate impact for the Lions’s defense and connect on a link-up play with fellow defender Jackson Platts to secure the victory for OCB.

Sunshine State Showdown

Just 97 miles separate Osceola County Stadium and IMG Academy Stadium in Bradenton, Florida, the site of the latest battle between OCB and Inter Miami II on Tuesday night. In the six matches between the two Sunshine State rivals since the two sides joined MLS NEXT Pro for the 2022 season, OCB holds a 3-4-2 record against Inter Miami CF II. Tuesday night’s match will not only serve as an opportunity to achieve bragging rights over their intrastate rivals, but a chance for the Lions to strike even in the win column in the all-time series before the two sides meet again next month back in Kissimmee.
