ORLANDO, Fla. (Apr. 7, 2023) — The Orlando Pride have signed midfielder Thais Reiss to a one-year contract with an option for an additional year, it was announced today. The Brazilian rejoins the Pride after being signed via Discovery on June 11 of last year. Reiss will be eligible for selection following the receipt of a P-1 Visa.
“We’re very excited to welcome Thais back, officially, as a member of the Pride,” VP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Haley Carter said. “Thais has earned this contract through her hard work, day in and day out, on the training field. We’re looking forward to having her bring even more competition to our midfield and add another exciting skill set to our roster.”
The University of North Florida-product returned to Orlando this preseason as a non-roster invitee following a 2022 campaign that saw her appear in five matches and tally two starts, making her professional debut on June 12 against Chicago. At the collegiate level, Reiss finished her career with 77 appearances, 73 of which were starts for the Ospreys, scoring 42 goals which still stands as second all-time in UNF history, adding 18 assists to her points tally.
From 2018-2021, Reiss was named to the ASUN All-Conference First Team and earned 2020 ASUN Player of the Year honors. In 2016, she represented Brazil in the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan and two years later represented the Verde-Amarela again during the U-20 World Cup in France.
