After opening the 2018 calendar year with a Copa América Femenina title, Camila will be closing it out with another big win.
Camila and Esporte Clube Iranduba da Amazônia wrapped up play in the Copa Libertadores Femenina this weekend, defeating last year’s runner-up Colo-Colo 1-1 (2-0) to take third place after a thrilling penalty kick shootout on Sunday.
Just three days prior, the Brazilian also scored in penalty kicks but she was the only Iranduba player to do so, as the team lost 1-1 (3-1) and set up the weekend’s third-place showdown.
On Sunday, the Pride midfielder was again calm and composed as she stepped up to take the first kick for Iranduba, rocketing a goal into the upper 90.
Antonia gave Iranduba a cushion with a goal on the team’s third kick, but the stellar display from goalkeeper Rubi led the team to the win. The netminder showed brilliant skill, making three diving stops in addition to one shot off the post by Colo-Colo’s Gisela Francisca.
Earlier in the match, Djeni sent Iranduba into the half ahead 1-0 but their Colombia-based opponent leveled things in the second half.
2018 marked the first time Iranduba competed in the CONMEBOL-backed tournament, and Camila’s offseason stint with the club. The 24-year-old signed a short-term contract with Iranduba in October and played in all five Copa Libertadores Femenina matches.
