F Chris Mueller tied M Yoshi Yotún for the team lead when he picked up his 5th assist on Saturday vs. Toronto. Mueller is the only Lion to have appeared in all 19 league matches this season and has played in 21 of City’s 22 matches across all competitions in 2018.
Mueller was the 6th overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. Mueller currently leads all players drafted before him in games played, games started, goals, assists and minutes played. He has started 14 games for the Lions this season and totaled 3 goals to add to his 5 assists in 2018.
Lucky Number 13
D Chris Schuler became the 13th different goal-scorer for the Lions this season across all competitions on Saturday against Toronto, tying a Club record set in both 2015 and 2017.
Schuler’s goal on July 14 marked the fastest City reached 13 different goal-scorers in Club history. D Seb Hines became the 13th different goal scorer for the Lions on Oct. 10, 2015 and Yotún was the 13th Lion to score in 2017 on Sept. 27.
Game-Winner, Chicken Dinner
F Dom Dwyer’s game-winning goal on Saturday marked his 4th game-winner of the season. Dwyer found the back of the net to secure victory for the Lions against Portland, San Jose, Philadelphia and Toronto in 2018. Dwyer’s 4 game-winners are 1 shy of tying a Club record set by F Cyle Larin in 2017.
Seizing Opportunities
GK Earl Edwards Jr. made his 1st start in league play this season on Saturday. Edwards made 3 saves in his 1st career MLS victory.
M Dillon Powers appeared in his 2nd league match this season, entering in place of M Tony Rocha in the 56th minute on Saturday. It was his first appearance in MLS since May 18 at Toronto.
D Shane O’Neill made his Club debut on Wednesday against Philadelphia. O’Neill played the entirety of the match alongside D Amro Tarek.
