ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 24, 2019) - Orlando City B has signed Argentine forward Lucas Ontivero, the Club announced today.
At just 24 years old, Ontivero has played professionally in the United States, Mexico and Argentina, among others. During the 2016 Major League Soccer season, Ontivero joined the Montreal Impact on loan, where he would go on to make 23 appearances, scoring two goals and adding two assists.
The winger was most recently a member of Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club II, a club in the second division professional football league in Malaysia. In 2014, Ontivero joined Turkish side Galatasaray SK and immediately won the Turkish Cup.
Following that title run he would go out on a number of loan spells over the following years including a stint with Slovenia’s NK Olimpija Ljubljana where he compiled a career high four goals and one assist over 11 matches. During that 2015-16 season, Ontivero helped lead Olimpija Ljubljana to the Slovenian Championship.
In 2017, the Catamarca, Argentina native won the Chilean Championship as a member of Club Universidad de Chile.
Ontivero will be available for Saturday night’s match at FC Tucson pending league and federation approval, which kicks off at 10:30 p.m. ET from Kino North Stadium. That match can be streamed through ESPN+.
