KYO Spirit 2018 pt1

The Orlando Pride continue 2018 with their first road trip of the season in a visit to Washington. The Pride will look to continue their best start to a season with points on the road and Washington will be aiming to earn their first points of 2018. Here is everything you need to know about the Washington Spirit:

Key Departures

Pride fans will surely know about plucking Spirit players during the offseason. That didn’t change this offseason. The Pride picked up Spirit Captain, Shelina Zadorsky, to add defensive punch. Another key loss in the back was that of Keeper Stephanie Labbé.

New Faces to Watch

Washington shipped Shelina Zadorsky to Orlando but they gained Aubrey Bledsoe in the process. Bledsoe started in the Spirit’s first match of the season and earned a Save of the Week nominee. Other notable additions during the offseason were youngsters Rose Lavelle, Andi Sullivan, and 2017 Rookie of the Year Ashley Hatch.

Form

The Spirit started 2018 to a similar tune from 2017. Losses. A loss at Seattle continued their struggles from 2017 where they won only five matches all season.

Head-to-Head

The one thing going for the young Spirit squad is they’ve managed to have the Pride’s number through the club’s first two years. The Pride is only 1-2-2 through the first five meetings with Washington.
